Currently the senior boys and girls at REWIRE are going through a six part bible study series on the Gospel of Luke. We have been really encouraged with the eagerness and attitude that everyone has been showing during these studies. It’s been great to see people ask more questions, helping to answer questions and taking the bible more seriously. Keep up the good work guys! 🙂
Please find below short summaries for our first two studies. *much apologies for the delayed posting*
Study 1: Introduction to the Gospel of Luke:
Passages used: Luke 1:1-4, 26-38, Luke 2
Leaders opened up the series by providing the context and purpose of Luke as seen in verses 1-4 of chapter 1.
In this study we explored the circumstances and events surrounding Jesus’s birth. Following that idea, we also spent some time in reading and discussion of Jesus’ adventures in the temple to help understand His relationship with God the Father.
Main Idea: Jesus’ birth as God’s true Son.
Application Questions: In light of Jesus obedient relationship with His father, how is your relationship with God and does your daily living reflect your obedience to His Word?
Study 2: Temptation and Rejection of Truth
Passages used: Luke 4:1-13, 16-30
In this study, the youth were able to understand that the truth (God’s word) helps us to resist temptation. Furthermore, Jesus’ teaching is radical and ultimately if you chose to reject the truth then God will reject you.
The group also had some lively discussion on the questions of whether there is a difference between temptation and sin? If there is anything wrong with us being tempted?
Main idea: Jesus was tempted but did not sin.
Application Questions: What does this passage mean to you/how can you relate to this passage? How can you use what you learnt to preach about who Jesus is?
What is one thing you have learnt about who Jesus is?
As always, we look forward to seeing you all again at REWIRE guys.
On behalf of the senior leaders,
p.s We’re on break this friday, so see you again next friday (17th july)
